The eleventh edition of the Donosti Masters Cup, the International Veterans’ Football Tournament, sponsored by the Department of Tourism of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, will kick off this afternoon with the first round of matches and a new record of participation. 

In total, 110 teams from 10 different countries, including Canada, USA and Western Sahara, the team invited by the Donosti Cup Foundation. Spain, France, Italy, Ukraine, Mexico, Argentina and Peru repeated their participation. 60% of the teams will come from outside Gipuzkoa, which means that more than 1,000 people, including players and family members, will arrive in our city this weekend, generating a significant impact on tourism and the economy. It is worth noting that, once again, there will be female representation from across the ocean. At the national level, there will be teams from different autonomous communities, with the Basque Country, Madrid, and Catalonia being the most represented. There will also be teams from Navarre, La Rioja, Aragon, Valencia, the Canary Islands, and Asturias. As for the local participants, Real Unión, Zarauz, and Pasaia in the men's category, and Eibar, Oiartzun, and Dunboa Eguzki in the women's category, are the favorites to fight for the championship title.

The matches will start at 6PM in the afternoon in the fields of Puio, Berio César Benito and Matigoxotegi until 8:30PM. Tomorrow morning the number of fields will be extended to eight: Berio, Puio, Martutene, César Benito, Matigoxotegi, Jesús Mari Zamora (Rentería), Karla Lekuona (Oiartzun), and Ugalde-Ventas (Irún). 

The final phase and the finals of the tournament will be played in five playing fields located in the capital of San Sebastian: Matigoxotegi, Puio, Berio, Martutene and César Benito.
