The 6thedition of International Veterans Football tournament " Donosti Masters Cup 2019” has been a complete success.
Once again, an edition with more than 140 matches celebrated simultaneously in 5 different fields, with really disputed finals in which Eibar won in the female s´ category, Real Unión in the +35 and Hondarribia in +45 ended up being the winners of the tournament.
The ball started to roll in Puio on Friday with seventeen matches of the first phase. After the first contact with the field, the official reception took place in Miramar Castle, in which the teams received them welcome with a cocktail, a typical Basque dance and the incomparable surrounding of the city´s bay. A date full off reunion of past year´s participants, with a really grateful atmosphere helped by music, lunch and excitement to enjoy the tournament.
On Saturday morning the competition was taken again in Hernani, Don Bosco, Lasarte, Puio and the Miniestadium of Anoeta, where the rest of matches of the first phase were disputed. After finishing the first phase they met to recharge forces in the dining place by the Ministadium of Anoeta, where they could chat on the plays and results of the first meetings and enjoy a wonderful weather.
In spite of the weariness the matches of the evening turned out to be vibrant and the teams played their best and go round after round to get to the final. In addition, they counted with the extra help of masseurs of the institute IEMTC to whom we are very grateful for their work and dedication.
In the Champions League disputed in the Ministadium of Anoeta, the final of the category +35 faced Los Indios (Madrid) and Real Unión (Gipuzkoa) giving the victory to these last ones for 0-2. The final of the category +45 between Hondarribia (Guipuzcoa) and Ath Sant Just (Barcelona) was also intense, where the team from Hondarribi managed to win the cup with a final 0-1 in the scoreboard.
Regarding the consolation phase final of the +35 category played in Hernani, Alianza(Colombia) and Trintxerpe(Gipuzkoa) were faced in an intense match that ended with penalties in favour of the Colombians. The final of the +45 category was disputed in Puio, between the team R3eal Unión and Ademar, a really intense match that was finished with penalties in favour of the second one, giving the 4thcup to the hostess province.
