Donosti Masters Cup 2026 kicks off with 41 matches on opening day

The Donosti Masters Cup 2026, which brings together more than 100 teams from 8 countries, officially got underway today with an intense opening day in which 41 of the 252 scheduled matches have already been played.

Throughout the afternoon, the competition has taken place simultaneously across three venues in San Sebastián — Puio, César Benito, and Martutene — which have hosted the first matches of this new edition and marked the start of several days of uninterrupted football in the city.

The opening day has been characterised by a high-scoring pace, with more than 61 goals recorded so far, reflecting the attacking and competitive spirit that has defined the Donosti Masters Cup since its inception.

Before the first matches kicked off, a minute of silence was observed in memory of María Pilar Elizondo, who recently passed away and was the wife of Javier Garmendia, coach of Real Unión veterans. The gesture was respectfully observed by all teams present as a sign of condolence, respect, and support.

The competition will continue over tomorrow with the remaining matches of the schedule, consolidating a new edition that once again brings together teams from different backgrounds in a spirit of football, coexistence, and sportsmanship.
