After the success of the tournament held last weekend that gathered 200 players plus 50 years old in our city, this weekend has been the turn of players 35 and 45 years old who enjoyed an intense weekend where football has been the real star but not the only one: players had also time for sightseeing and enjoying the local cuisine.
From France, we have had three teams; one from Espagnol d’Orleans, the club that has participated more times in the Donosti Cup, and two from SD Caulonque from Dax. From England, two teams have participated, Battersea Park and Battersea Park Rangers, both formed by Spanish and British players living in London for more than ten years ago. And from the Basque Country, there were 8 teams: Zumaiako, Marino, Boca Senior, Akabauak, S21 Sec, Kirol Aukera and Tippì Tappa.
The matches were played in the morning and afternoon of Saturday at the Mini stadium of Anoeta, a natural grass field. In the morning, the first round was played and in the afternoon, the final round and the finals.
Akabauak, the team formed by players from Urola Kosta and ex players of the Sanse and Real Union, was the champion of the + 35 category. They won the final 3-0 against S21 Sec. In the + 45 category, Tippi Tappa was the champion. They won the final 5-1 against Mariño klub. The best player of the younger category was Andoni Rodriguez from Akabauak team. And in the + 45 category, the honor corresponded to Bruno Zlugacs from Calonque, the oldest player in the tournament with 67 years.
