The 4thedition of the International Veterans Football tournament " Donosti Masters Cup 2017 " has already come to an end. After an intense weekend filled with matches and emotions, the Stadium Kirolak he has been proclaimed the champion of the category +35 and Real Union in the category +45.
The tournament began on Friday evening with the inaugural match that faced the Real Sociedad with the Ath. Sant Just from Barcelona and Castellón's Rua de Pau. Later, an official reception was celebrated in the Miramar Palace that served to give the welcome to the teams participating in the 4thedition. After some words from the director of the tournament Iñigo Olaizola, a video of the past edition was projected and a lunch was served.
On Saturday morning, the 1stphase of the tournament started in 3 fields: Hernani, Puio and Berio. After an intense morning, the teams got together the university dining room to have lunch and from 15:00 the matches of the final phase started in Berio's field.
In spite of the weariness the matches of the evening turned out to be vibrant and the teams played their best and go round after round to get to the final.
The majority of matches finished in the penalties, which reflects how difficult they were.
The final +35 faced the Stadium Kirolak and Akabauak, the first ones won 2-1. In the final +45 Real Union and Aviron Bayonais were faced, the team from Irun won 2-0.
